East Belfast Mission Community Garden

Garden Making 1st September 2009

What had recently been waste ground, following the demolition of shop units, is about to come back into productive use. Sara Cook, EBM’s Director of Family & Community work, says,

“EBM has recently been selected to be featured in Glorious Gardens, the new UTV reality TV show about making/re-making gardens.  Glorious Gardens will pay for the design and construction of a community garden, but will use volunteers that EBM supplies to help their team with the construction of the garden.  The garden will be located in the waste ground (where the old shops used to be located) to the front-right of EBM.  The completed garden can be used by EBM user groups and departments to grow vegetables and flowers, as well as to enjoy a bit of green space.  We hope that it will become a resource for the whole community.”

Skainos is delighted to see another positive development in the re-imagining of the Newtownards Road.
